In the Town of Legal, Alberta, fences & pool enclosures rules are set by Town of Legal Land Use Bylaw #05-2013, verified 2026-09-27. Max height front: 1.0 m (3.3 ft.). Max height rear side: 2.0 m (6.56 ft.). Prohibited materials: Razor wire and barbed wire in Residential Districts.

Sec. 8.21: fences/hedges in Residential Districts capped at 2.0m in side/rear yards and 1.0m in front yards (and near road/lane intersections). Sec. 8.44: private swimming pools/hot tubs need a permit and must be fenced to 1.8m with self-latching, locked gates; no barbed wire/electrified pool fencing.
