Land Use Bylaw exempts fences/gates/walls under 1.0m (front yard) or 1.8m (side/rear yard) from needing a development permit, except on corner lots or where abutting a road with vehicular traffic; private swimming pools/hot tubs must be enclosed by a fence or wall at least 1.8m high.
