In the Village of Spring Lake, Alberta, backyard hens & livestock rules are set by Village of Spring Lake Urban Beekeeping Bylaw No. 393 and 1 other bylaw, verified 2026-09-27. Permit or licence: Urban Beekeeping Licence required; proof of registration with Provincial Apiculturist every year by June 30; licence fee $40.00. Setback: minimum 3 metres (10 feet) from all property lines; or within a rear yard enclosed by a solid fence or hedge a minimum of 1.8 metres (6 feet) in height. Max hens: not more than four (4) Hens.
