1 Policy No. 16 "Guidelines for Funding and Awarding a Bursary" POLICY NO. 16 GUIDELINES FOR FUNDING AND AWARDING A BURSARY ________________________________________________________________________________ 1. The recipient must be: - a resident of the Municipality of Barrington, and - a student of the Barrington Municipal High School, or any private schools which are subject to regular inspection by the Department of Education School Inspector, and - pursuing a higher education with preference being given to students entering a field related to public services. Additional factors to be considered: - volunteerism, - active interest in the community, and - qualities of an exemplary citizen. 2. The Committee of the Whole Council shall review all written applications and score applicants based on attached criteria, in order to determine the successful applicant. 3. The Bursary will be awarded at Graduation. 4. The Bursary will be made payable on January 1st, upon proof of completion of first term and intention to return. 5. The Bursary shall be in the sum of $2000.00 2 Policy No. 16 "Guidelines for Funding and Awarding a Bursary" Page 2, Policy No. 16 6. All applications for the Bursary must be in written form and contain detailed information on the activities and accomplishments of the applicant including community involvement and must be delivered to the Municipal Office, to the attention of the Committee of the Whole Council, not later than May 1st. 7. The Bursary shall be funded out of general revenues of the Municipality. 8.
