Town of Bridgewater Policy #93 ALCOHOL MANAGEMENT ON TOWN OWNED PROPERTY Approved: May 14, 2018 Resolution #18-093 1.0 PURPOSE The purpose of the Town of Bridgewater Alcohol Policy is to promote and protect the health and wellbeing of citizens by ensuring responsible practices for the use of alcohol in facilities owned and operated by the Town of Bridgewater, as well as, any sanctioned municipal events. 2.0 EXPENSING OF ALCOHOL 2.1 The expensing of alcohol is prohibited within the municipal unit as per:  Town of Bridgewater - Policy #3-Travel; and - Section 8.4 of the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual.  Province of Nova Scotia  Municipal Government Act (Bill No.10, Chapter 18, approved on October 26, 2017). 3.0 SPECIAL EVENTS 3.1 Any Organization(s) and business(es) who wish(es) to sell, give away, consume or allow to be consumed, alcoholic beverages on town owned property must forward their request to the Chief Administrative Officer who has the authority, granted by Council, to allow or deny each or any requests on an individual basis. 3.2 If the application is approved by the CAO, it is the responsibility of the organization to comply with the Liquor Control Act and the Liquor Licensing Regulations associated with the special occasion license that must be obtained by the organization, from the Alcohol & Gaming Division of Service Nova Scotia. 4.0 ADVERTISING 4.1 All alcohol advertisements proposed for placement on Bridgewater Transit buses must be submitted to the Chief Administrative Officer for approval and must: a) be in accordance with the Liquor Control Act and Regulations; and b) include messages about both the consumption of alcohol and the option for safe transportation in accordance with the Nova Scotia's Low Risk Drinking Guidelines. 4.2 The advertising/promoting of alcohol products/brands and the distribution of promotional items is not permitted in town facilities except in designated areas for which either a special occasion license or permanent license is issued. 5.0 NO APPEALS Council's decision, through the decision of the Chief Administrative Officer, shall not be subject to an appeal.
