Approved January 11, 2016 Revised March 22, 2018 (effective April 1, 2018) 1 TOWN OF BRIDGEWATER CHAPTER 200 COMPREHENSIVE PARKING BY-LAW Part 1: Definitions 1.1 In this by-law: a) "parking sign" means any sign erected by the Town of Bridgewater Traffic Authority prohibiting or restricting parking; b) "person" includes a body corporate. Part 2: Scope and Delegation of Authority 2.1 The following lands are hereby designated as parking areas and facilities to be operated and managed by the Town of Bridgewater: North Parkade - King Street Bridgewater Town Centre Development Corporation Lot - King Street Dorothy A. O'Neill Lot - King Street Town Hall Parking Lot - Accessible via Pleasant Street and Phoenix Street all of which are more particularly mapped/described in Schedule A, attached hereto and forming a part of this by-law. 2.2 The Town of Bridgewater may erect parking signs prescribing terms or conditions upon which vehicles may be parked in parking lots owned, maintained or operated by the Town of Bridgewater, including but not limited to signs prescribing: a) permit parking only; b) customer parking and/or employee parking; and c) maximum free parking time. 2.3 Every person shall comply with the directions set forth on any sign erected pursuant to this by-law. 2.4 A peace officer or by-law enforcement officer, appointed pursuant to the Police Act, if satisfied that a vehicle has been left standing in a parking area or facility in violation of this by-law, may cause the vehicle to be removed and detained until the expense of removal and detention are paid to the Town of Bridgewater. A parking permit may be issued to any person upon application to and at the discretion of the Town of Bridgewater or authority designated by the Town of Bridgewater. 3.2. A parking permit shall be applicable only to the area identified on the parking permit. 3.3 A parking permit is not transferable. 3.4 A parking permit expires on the date of expiry as shown on the permit. 3.5 The exemption from parking restrictions applies only where the parking permit is present in the vehicle and so as to be clearly visible from the exterior. 3.6 Any person who contravenes this by-law is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to the penalty prescribed by the Motor Vehicle Act R.S.N.S. 1989 c. 293 as amended.
