Region of Queens Municipality Administrative Policy 1 - Respecting PUBLIC MEETINGS WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act provides that the committees appointed by Council are open to the public unless the Council, by policy, determines that the meetings of a specified committee are not public or the circumstances under which all or parts of specified committee meetings are not public; AND WHEREAS the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality believes that those committees, with the exception of regular standing committees, would serve no public purpose by opening them up to the public; AND WHEREAS the standing committees of Council include Finance and Audit, Recreation and Community Facilities, Economic Development and Tourism, Engineering and Works and Corporate Services; AND WHEREAS the Council may meet in private to discuss issues relating to the acquisition, sale, lease and security of municipal property, setting a minimum price to be accepted by the municipality at a tax sale, personnel matters, labour relations, contract negotiations, litigation or potential litigation, legal advice eligible for solicitor-client privilege and public security; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality approve that council and regular meeting of standing committees shall be open to the public. THIS IS TO CERTIFY THAT this Administrative Policy was passed by the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality at a duly constituted meeting of said Council held the 15th day of February, 1999. ____________________________________________ MAYOR _____________________________________________ REGIONAL CLERK Approved by Council: February 15, 1999 In Effect: April 1, 1999
