POLICY NUMBER - 63 Page 1 of 1 Policy Subject / Title - Sale of Personal Property GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY 63.01 It shall be the policy of the Region of Queens Municipality to provide a policy for the sale of personal property of the Region, providing it at no cost to suitable fire departments and ground search and rescue teams first, whenever possible and feasible. POLICY INFORMATION 63.02 The Region's Chief Administrative Officer shall, at least biennially, conduct a review of the personal property owned by the Region to determine what materials are surplus to the needs of the Region because of being obsolete, unsuitable for use, surplus to the Region's needs or no longer needed. 63.03 After compiling this list, the Chief Administrative Officer may send the list to Queens County's volunteer fire departments and emergency first responders or offer a piece of property to one of the departments by telephone. If after this process, there is still material and possessions available, it shall then be offered to ground search and rescue teams and then to other community organizations in Queens in that order. All property given to these groups shall be free of charge. 63.04 The Chief Administrative Officer may, without notice to any community groups, sell personal property belonging to the Region, that in his / her opinion is surplus to the Region's requirements (i.e. used vehicles) and sell it for fair market value or the best price available by other means as determined from time to time by the Chief Administrative Officer. 63.05 The Chief Administrative Officer may delegate this power in writing to other employees of the Region on a case-by-case basis. 63.06 Whenever personal property of the Region is given away or sold, the Chief Administrative Officer shall notify Council of his decision and action in writing.
