Region of Queens Municipality Administrative Policy 8 - Respecting REMUNERATION TO NON-COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEMBERS WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act provides that non-council committee members may, by policy, be paid an honorarium for serving on a committee and provide for a rate per kilometer as a traveling allowance for such persons for actual distance traveled once each day to go to, and return from, every daily session of a meeting of the committee; AND WHEREAS the Municipal Government Act provides that Council may, by policy, provide for the authorization of certain expenses; AND WHEREAS non-council committee members sometimes incur out-of-pocket expenses; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Council of the Region of Queens Municipality provide reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses and a rate of forty cents ($.40) per kilometer for all non-council members of committees authorized by Council while traveling to or attending meetings or other functions when authorized by the Council; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT only those members that live more than ten (10) kilometers from the meeting site shall be entitled to reimbursement for meals as time does not allow them to return home fro such; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT no expense shall be reimbursed to any non- council member of any committee that is not supported by proof that the expense was actually incurred; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT a non-council member of a committee shall not be entitled to remuneration for serving on the committee, but shall be provided with a small token of appreciation from the Region when such services lasts for at least one full term of appointment.
