Policy Subject / Title - Reimbursement for Civic Number Signs
______________________________________________________________________
BACKGROUND:
52.01 With the implementation of the 911 Emergency Reporting System in 1997, the
need for an accurate civic numbering system became very important. The
primary responsibility for civic numbering rests with the Region of Queens
Municipality, and this includes assigning new civic numbers. Errors have been
directed in the existing civic numbering system, and it is the responsibility of the
Region to correct these errors.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY:
52.02 It shall be the policy of the Region of Queens Municipality to have a procedure
for reimbursing owners of property in the Region of Queens Municipality who
have purchased incorrect civic number signs; meeting the specifications set out
in Bylaw Number 19 - A Bylaw Respecting Civic Numbering and Signage of
Streets and Roads; as a result to incorrect verification by the Planning
Department.
POLICY PROCEDURE:
52.03 Property owners who have had their civic numbers incorrectly verified by the
Planning Department of the Region of Queens Municipality, and who have
purchased proper civic number sign(s) as set out in the above-mentioned bylaw,
shall be eligible for reimbursement from the Region of Queens Municipality.
52.04 Reimbursement shall be in the form of a new civic number sign, obtained from a
supplier and displaying the correct civic number, being provided to the property
owner by the Region of Queens Municipality. Incorrect signs shall be given to
the Region of Queens Municipality in exchange for the new sign.
