LA i 1( 1, 1I ,lb .J 1-: I 'O \Tl~ I E RICHMOND MUNICIPALITY OF THE COUNTY OF RICHMOND COUNCILLORS PAYMENT POLICY Policy Review Notification: January 27, 2020 Policy Review Date: Approved by Council: January 20, 2020 February 24, 2020 I certify this to be a true copy of the Councillors Payment Policy as adopted by the Muni ipal Council of Richmond County at a Public Meeting held THIS POLICY is enacted pursuant to the Municipal Government Act, SNS 1998, C.18, as amended. BE IT RESOLVED that the· Resolution for Payment of Councillors passed by Council for the Municipality of the County of Richmond on November 12, 2002 is hereby repealed and replaced by the following policy which shall be known as the "Councillors' Payment Policy". Annual Stipends 1. The Warden of the Municipality shall receive a salary of $47,683 per annum, to include the salary for services as Councillor; 2. The Deputy Warden of the Municipality shall receive a salary of $31,787 per annum, to include the salary for services as Councillor; 3. Every Councillor of the Municipality shall receive an amount of Twenty Five Thousand, Five Hundred and Twenty Three Dollars ($25,523) per annum as salary for services as Councillor; 2 Cost of Living Index 4. The amounts set out in paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 above shall be increased at the same percentage increase as provided to staff for any cost of living adjustments. Payment Date - 5. Stipends for the Warden, Deputy Warden and Councillors of the Municipality shall be paid monthly and deposited on the 1st business day of each month .. Travel Expenses 6. The Warden and Councillors shall be reimbursed for actual miles travelled, once each day for going to and returning from each session of a meeting of the Council or of a Committee, at a rate equal to that paid by the Province of Nova Scotia to its employees as determined in April of each year. 7. This policy shall be reviewed and updated prior to every municipal election.
