REMUNERATION POLICY
Scope
This policy will apply to the Elected Officials of the Town of Trenton and is adopted under authority of
Section 23(1)(d) of the Municipal Government Act.
Policy
1. The annual remuneration for elected officials for the Town of Trenton as of March 31, 2026, is as
follows:
a. Mayor
$ 18,000
b. Councillor
$ 10,000
c.
Deputy Mayor
$ 12,000
2. Effective April 1, 2026, and every year moving forward, the annual remuneration for elected
officials (under Section 1), will be increased by the annual Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the
Province of Nova Scotia set for the previous year.
3. Such remuneration will be paid monthly at a rate of 1/12 of the annual amount.
4. No deduction shall be made from the remuneration of an elected official for missing council or
committee meetings.
