Policy: Chapter 25 Coverage: Town of Trenton Council Approval: 2002 / 10 / 10 Effective Date: 2002 / 10 / 10 M ## Scope This policy will apply to the employment of casual operators for snow and ice control within the Town of Trenton and is adopted under authority of Section 48(3) and Section 65(r) of the Municipal Government Act. ## Policy In all situations, the Town of Trenton will utilize current qualified unionized employees first. The Town of Trenton will accept applications from qualified applicants to be placed on a priority list of three casual operators. Resumes will be held on file at the Town Office for a period of six months from date of receipt. When required, casual operators will perform duties for the Town of Trenton under the following conditions: 1. All casual operators are non-union employees. 2. No benefits will be extended except for those required by provincial or federal legislation. 3. There are no scheduled hours of work; call out as required 4. Casual operators report directly to the Director of Public Works or his/her designate. 5. Casual operators who are also members of the Trenton Fire Department will not be available for fire calls during the time they are performing snow and ice control duties. 6.
