<!-- image --> ## ENGAGEMENT WITH ABUTTING MUNICIPALITES POLICY X Council - [ ] - Administrative ## 1. PURPOSE - 1.1 The purpose is to establish a policy to provide opportunity for engagement with abutting municipalities to learn more about an issue and the potential impact a change in planning policy may have. The Municipality of the County of Victoria's neighbours are the Cape Breton Regional Municipality, and the Municipality of the County of Inverness. The aim of early engagement is to reduce land-use conflict and increase cooperative opportunities. Council supports municipal engagement when adopting and amending municipal planning strategies. Although the Wagmatcook First Nation is not a municipality, the Municipality of the County of Victoria wishes to notify and encourage discussion when planning decisions that may impact this community. ## 2. PRINCIPLES OF THE POLICY - 2.1 As required by section 204A of the MGA, in the case where the adoption or amendment of a Municipal Planning Strategy is proposed, Council shall seek input from the following abutting municipalities: - a) Cape Breton Regional Municipality - b) Municipality of the County of Inverness - Although the Wagmatcook First Nation is not a municipality, the Municipality of the County of Victoria wishes to notify and encourage discussion when planning decisions that may impact this community as outlined in section 3.2. ## 3.
