## Barbed Wire Fences By-law (1920)
Section 66 of the By-law and Ordinances of the Town of Hantsport, Hants County, Nova Scotia.
No person shall build, maintain or keep, or permit to be built, maintained or kept on any land owned or occupied by him adjacent to or bounding on any street or road in the Town of Hantsport, any barbed wire fence or any fence composed partly of barbed wire and partly of other material, along any such street or road, or so near thereto, as to expose persons passing along the said street or road to damage or injury.
67. The owner or occupier of any land, on or in front of which, any fence composed of barbed wire, or partly of barbed wire and partly of other material, is now erected, maintained or kept along any street or road in the Town of Hantsport, shall remove the barbed wire therefrom on receiving notice so to do from the Town Clerk or Superintendent of Streets, and on neglect or refusal for 24 (twenty-four) hours to remove the same, shall be deemed guilty of a breach of the foregoing by-law.
68. Any person found guilty of a breach of the foregoing by-law shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding $10 (ten dollars) and on non-payment thereof, to imprisonment in the common jail of the County of Hants, for a period not exceeding 60 (sixty) days.
69. The Town Council or Superintendent of Streets may cause any fence erected, maintained or kept contrary to the foregoing by-law, to be removed at the expense of the owner or occupier of the lands in front of, or on which, the same is erected, and may recover the cost of the removal thereof, from the owner or occupier of the said lands by action at the suit of the Town.
Passed by the Town Council of the Town of Hantsport on the 3d day of February, 1920.
Approved by the Minister of Municipal Affairs on the 22nd day of October, 1920.
