MUNICIPALITY OF THE DISTRICT OF YARMOUTH Public Participation Program Policy P-102-21 Effective Date: March 25, 2026 Public Participation Program Policy P-102-21 Page 1 Part 1 Purpose To establish a public participation program concerning the preparation, review, and amendment of planning documents, as required by Section 204 and 205 of the Municipal Government Act, allowing the public to learn about and provide input into these processes. Part 2 Definitions 2.1 "MODY" means Municipality of the District of Yarmouth 2.2 "Planning Documents" means the Municipal Planning Strategy (MPS) Part 3 Policy 3.1 Council shall provide for public input on the adoption or amendment of planning documents by holding one (1) or more public participation meeting. The meetings shall be held prior to Council giving notice of intention to adopt or amend planning documents. 3.2 Notice of any public participation meeting shall be published on MODY's website page and other social media at least 5 business days prior to the meeting. The notice shall state the time, date and place of meeting, a brief summary or purpose of proposed planning documents, and ways in which the document may be viewed by the public. 3.3 The purpose of the public participation meeting shall be to provide an opportunity for the public to comment, make suggestions, discuss and receive information with respect to the planning documents. 3.4 Members of the public may express their views, comments and suggestions verbally or in writing and all interested persons will be given the opportunity to have their views, comments and suggestions heard. Accessibility Act and Regulations shall be taken into consideration when planning public meetings to allow for full participation. 3.5 The meeting shall be conducted by Municipal Staff of the Planning and Development Office, on behalf of the Planning Advisory Committee, and the committee shall report to Council the views of the public as expressed MUNICIPALITY OF THE DISTRICT OF YARMOUTH Public Participation Program Policy P-102-21 Effective Date: March 25, 2026 Public Participation Program Policy P-102-21 Page 2 at the public participation meeting by means of a written report.
