TOY 48 - Circus Animal Prohibition Bylaw Town of Yarmouth CIRCUS ANIMAL PROHIBITION BYLAW Effective: February 13th, 1997 TOY 48 BEING ENACTED by the Town Council of the Town of Yarmouth under the authority of Section 7(2) of the Theatres and Amusements Act, R.S.N.S. 1989, Chapter 466, as follows: 1.0 This Bylaw shall be known as the "Circus Animal Prohibition Bylaw". 2.0 Subject to Subsection 3 herein, no person shall operate or carry on in the Town of Yarmouth a circus in which animals perform tricks or participate in performances of any kind for the amusement of an audience. 3.0 Nothing contained in this By-Law shall prohibit or restrict the following: a. exhibitions or performances in which individuals ride horses or ponies; b. exhibitions or performances involving dogs; c. displays or showing of animals in agricultural fairs, exhibitions, or pet shows; d. horse races or dog races; e. rodeos; f. the use of animals in magic acts. 4.0 For the purposes of the Bylaw, the term "animal" includes all mammals, birds, reptiles and arachnids, but excludes humans.
