In the Township of Havelock-Belmont-Methuen, Ontario, backyard hens & livestock rules are set by Comprehensive Zoning By-law (office consolidation of By-law 1995-42, amendments to and including By-law 2025-046, consolidated July 2025), verified 2026-09-25. Livestock rule: Livestock, horses, and poultry permitted only in Agricultural (A) and Rural (RU) Zones; prohibited in all residential zones.

The keeping of livestock, horses, poultry or other animals related to agriculture is permitted only in Agricultural (A) and Rural (RU) zones -- not permitted on residential/urban-zoned land in the Township.
