Do I need a permit to cut down a tree?

In the Township of Zorra, Ontario, trees & tree removal rules are set by Tree By-law 13-19 (Office Consolidation, incl. By-law 10-23), verified 2026-09-25. Fines: $600.00 per tree (or per offence) for each violation under s. 6.1. A permit is required. Protected threshold: Any woody perennial plant reaching or able to reach 4.5 metres at physiological maturity, located on Township property.
