Stratford noise rules
Town of Stratford, Prince Edward Island. This is not Stratford, Ontario.
In Stratford, PEI, the captured Noise and Nuisance Bylaw sets different hours by activity: audible music in residential areas is restricted from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.; lawn equipment and construction have restrictions from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Unreasonably disturbing noise can also be prohibited outside those hours. Later amendments have not been fully consolidated into this guide.

What are the quiet hours?
The captured base bylaw restricts audible music, radio and similar sound from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. in residential areas. This is not a single curfew for every activity; construction and lawn equipment have earlier restrictions. Later amendments remain unresolved.

No. Section 3 also prohibits unreasonably loud, excessive or disturbing noise. Relevant factors include location, time, duration, volume and the nature of the activity.
Section 3(a)–(b)When can construction take place?
The captured schedule prohibits construction, repair or demolition audible on another property or in another apartment from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., except emergencies. Construction equipment has the same restricted hours in residential and other areas.

Lawn and garden equipment is restricted from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. in residential areas. The schedule expressly excepts snowblowing equipment and emergency generators from that item.
Schedule A, item 12What exceptions apply?
The base document includes necessary emergency measures, council-approved community activities and reasonable bells at places of worship or schools. Council can also grant a written, conditional exemption for up to six months.
Sections 4–5What penalties are specified?
Section 13 of the captured base document specifies $100–$500 on summary conviction, $200–$1,000 for a second contravention of the same provision within one year, and $300–$1,500 for a third or subsequent contravention within one year. Later amendments and current ticket schedules have not been checked.
