## A BYLAW TO REGULATE AND ENSURE THE SAFE OPERATION OF PRIVATE SWIMMING POOLS The Council of the Resort Village of Pebble Baye, in the Province of Saskatchewan enacts as follows: 1. That the following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and enforcement of this bylaw: - a) Swimming Pool: Any structure, basin, chamber or tank containing an artificial body of water for swimming, diving, or recreational bathing and having a depth of two feet or more at any point and with a surface area exceeding 100 square feet. - b) Private Swimming Pool: Shall mean and include a swimming pool that is not defined as a public pool in the Saskatchewan Regulation 144/71 under The Public Health Act (OC585-71)· 2. That Section 68 of Part 1 of the Canadian Electrical Code (Eleventh Edition) shall apply to and be in force in respect of all private swimming pools in operation in The Resort Village of Pebble Baye. 3. That all swimming pools within the Resort Village shall be enclosed with a suitable fence a minimum of five feet in height; said fence shall present an exterior surface such as to make it non-climable, and all doors, and/or gates to give access to the pool shall be locked at all times when the pool is not in use. Every enclosure having a gate or gates shall be equipped with self-closing and self latching devices placed at the top and on the inside of the gate. No gate shall be less than five feet in height, nor of a width exceeding four feet. 4. That under no circumstances shall water be drained or discharged from a swimming pool onto or across private or public property unless within a system of pipes. 5. That steps or ladders shall be provided at the shallow end of the pool if the vertical distance from the bottom of the pool to the deck or walk is over two feet. Steps leading into the pool shall be of non-slip design and shall have a minimum tread of twelve inches and a maximum rise or height of ten inches. There shall be no abrupt drop off of submerged projections into the pool, unless guarded by handrails. 6. That lifesaving equipment consisting of at least one ring bouy not more than fifteen inches in diameter to which shall be attached a rope 3/16 inch in diameter and a length at least equal to the greatest dimension of the swimming pool and one life pole or shepherd's crook type of pole, at least ten feet long and having blunted ends, shall be provided. Emergency flood lighting shall be provided. 7. No person shall fill a private swimming pool with water or maintain or use such pool filled with water until the provisions of this bylaw have been complied with. 8. Every pool shall provide an access walkway around the pool having a minimum width of three feet. Provided, however, that for surface pools that have an elevated access walkway the minimum of such walkway shall be two and one-half feet. - 9) Any person found guilty of an infraction of any provision of this bylaw shall be liable to penalties provided in the general penalty bylaw of the Resort Village of Pebble Baye. <!-- image --> <!-- image --> <!-- image --> SEAL SECRETARY - TREASURER certified a true copy of bylaw 30-3 sassed by council on the Ten day of May, A.D. 1983. рац MAYOR SEDE 5
