A BYLAW FOR THE RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SASMAN NO. 336 TO REGULATE THE SPEED OF MOTOR VEHICLES BYLAW NO. 5-2024 RURAL MUNICIPALITY OF SASMAN NO. 336 The Council of the Rural Municipality of Sasman # 336 In the Province of Saskatchewan enacts as follows: 1. This Bylaw may be referred to as Speed Limit Bylaw 2. This Bylaw is intended to: a) Identify areas within the Municipality where reduced speed is limited and; b) Set out penalties and/or fines for those persons who exceed the speed limits in the reduced zones on public highways. 3. In this Bylaw: a) "highway" shall mean the public highway or roadway within the Municipality under the direction, control and management of the Municipality; b) "Public highway" shall mean a public highway as defined by The Highways and Transportation Act, 1997; and c) "Motor vehicle" shall mean a motor vehicle as defined by or pursuant to The Traffic and Safety Act; and d) "Municipality" shall mean the Rural Municipality of Sasman No. 336. 4. Provisions of this Bylaw: a) No person shall operate a motor vehicle at a greater speed than which is posted on any highway; b) A School Zone on the east side of section 4-34-12-W2 shall have a posted speed limit of 50 kilometers per hour during school hours from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; 5. Enforcement of this Bylaw; a) A person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Bylaw is guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a penalty of that identified in the Highways and Transportation Act, 1997. b) Enforcement of this Bylaw may be made by the RCMP and/or a Bylaw Enforcement Officer appointed for the enforcement of Municipal Bylaws through resolution of Council. 6.
