THE RESORT VILLAGE OF SUNSET COVE
BYLAW 80/2010
A Bylaw Regarding Trees
The Council of the Resort Village of Sunset Cove, in the province of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:
1. This bylaw may be cited as the "Tree Bylaw"
2. No person shall on municipal reserve, Cherry Road or Hawthorn Road:
a. Plant any trees;
b. Damage, disturb, prune any tree;
c. Alter the grade level or drainage pattern in any manner so as to interfere with the assess
of water, or air or nutrients to any tree;
d. Remove or interfere with any protective barrier, structure or device on or around any
tree;
e. Commence any work or activity liable to damage or interfere with the root system or
upper structure of any tree;
f. Construct any paved walkway or driveway within a distance of .5 metres from the base of
any tree;
g. Carry out any construction, alteration, demolition of other work near or around any tree
without first constructing a protective barrier;
3. Any person who desires a tree to be removed from municipal reserve, Cherry Road or
Hawthorne Road shall make such a request in writing to the Council of the Resort Village of
Sunset Cove;
4. When a tree is in such a condition that it could be dangerous to public safety or property, the
Resort Village has the authority to enter property to remove the tree. Also, if a tree is infested or
suspected of being infested with any pests, the Resort Village has the authority to remove the
tree.
5. Any person who contravenes any provision of the bylaw is guilty of an offense punishable on
summary conviction by a fine not exceeding:
a. $2,000.00 in the case of an individual
b. $5,000.00 in the case of a corporation
