BYLAW NO. 1/1978
A BYLAW TO REGULATE THE HEIGHT OF TREES, HEDGES, OR SHRUBS
ON PRIVATE PROPERTY
The Council of the Village of Leask in the Province of Saskatchewan enacts
as follows:
1.
No person shall plant a tree, hedge or shrub on private property at or
adjacent to and within fifteen (15) feet from street intersections.
2.
The council may, by order, direct the owner of any private property on
which there is a tree or shrub or hedge within fifteen (15) feet of a street intersection
to remove or to trim the same to a height not exceeding three (3) feet above the level
of the street at such intersection.
3.
Where an owner of private property to whom an order has been
directed under the provisions of section 2 hereof, fails to comply with the order
within the time as therein specified the council may by resolution direct that such
removal be carried out at owner's expense by the agents or servants of the village,
and the village may recover the expense of such removal by action or in like manner
as municipal taxes are recoverable.
4.
Any person who contravenes the provision of section 1 is guilty of an
offence and shall be liable on summary conviction to the penalty provided in the
General Penalty Bylaw of the Village.
